Late one October night, someone quietly parked up the road from FAITH Animal Rescue Centre in Hickling and crept toward the building. It was 3 a.m., and the security cameras caught a glimpse of a figure leaving a duffel bag outside the centre before disappearing into the darkness.
Inside the bag were two heavily pregnant cats—left with no food or water. For seven long hours, they sat in the cold until a passing dog walker finally noticed the bag and alerted the rescue.
One of those cats was Wanda, a two-year-old tabby who quickly became the centre of attention at the shelter. Safe at last, Wanda gave birth to seven beautiful kittens, each one healthy and full of life. One by one, they grew strong and found loving homes of their own. But while all her kittens have moved on, Wanda is still waiting for her happy ending.
Despite her gentle personality, Wanda’s journey to find a forever home has been anything but easy. She’s been reserved twice, with home inspections completed, only for her prospective adopters to change their minds at the last moment.
“She’s amazing with other cats and even cat-friendly dogs,” a FAITH Animal Rescue spokesperson shared. “She’s also great with children, so she’d make a wonderful addition to any family.”
Wanda remains as hopeful as ever, winning over the hearts of everyone she meets at the rescue.
For now, she’s waiting patiently for the right family to come along—one that will give her the love and stability she deserves after everything she’s been through. Until then, she’ll be soaking up chin scratches and affection from the staff, dreaming of the day she finally finds her forever home.
