Hiro: The Cat Who Defied Cruelty to Find Love and Hope

On a beautiful sunny morning, a woman in Alberta, Canada, wasn’t expecting to be on a date with the most gruesome sight in her life. While she was about to throw her trash, a backpack was sitting in the middle of the garbage bin. The woman became worried when she saw movement inside the backpack.

Confused and frightened, she opened it, and there was a firmly tied bag. Her partner noticed her strange behavior and went to see what was wrong. Inside the bag, they found a cat on the brink of death.
The poor kitty was feeble and unable to stand or walk. Hence, the couple immediately called a local animal and care service, the Alberta Animal Services, who quickly took the helpless cat to its facility.

A quick examination revealed that the cat was a victim of much mistreatment. The poor animal’s troubles didn’t stop there; he had severe head trauma and was suffocated, which resulted in neurological issues and blindness, which might never be healed. The cat’s pelvis was broken, and he also suffered from starvation.
“At this point, his neurological issues are not getting any better,” Erica Coomber, director of operations for Alberta Animal Services, told The Dodo. “What this kitty has gone through is horrendous, and we hope and pray that we can get him through this and he makes a full recovery,” Coomber added.

With the help and care of the animal service, the cat started regaining his sight, and he put on some weight. Despite the fact he isn’t over the hump yet, he has already proven to everyone he is a fighter. The team hopes he will become healthier than ever with the proper care.

Despite the abuse and cruelty he has been through, his trust in humans is gradually restored. Whenever he sees someone from the staff, he starts purring and asking for pets and cuddles.

After what he had been through and the cat not having a name, the staff at the center decided to name him Hiro. A character inspires the name in a TV show called “Heroes.”

Hiro’s journey from pain and cruelty to health and happiness is finally awarded the most beautiful gift when a kind woman decides to adopt him.

“As soon as Hiro was named, I believed it was perfect because of his relentless fight against the odds to win his battle to live. He really is a super Hiro. All heroes deserve a cape,” the woman who saved him said.
Reading Hiro’s tragic story will make you frustrated and angry. However,  we are glad Hiro is in safe hands, living his best days and enjoying life and recovery.
