A cat in China unintentionally caused a significant problem for its owner when it pressed a button on her computer keyboard, sending a resignation letter she had never intended to submit.
The young woman lost her job and missed her annual financial bonus, which she had been counting on with the Chinese New Year approaching.
The 25-year-old’s cat was playing near her computer when it accidentally hit a key that sent the resignation letter she had previously drafted but decided not to submit.
Living in Chongqing, she had written the letter on January 5. Still, she hesitated to send it, unsure about making such a big decision.
Hoping to fix the mistake, she quickly called her manager to explain that her cat had accidentally sent the letter.
Unfortunately, he dismissed her explanation and refused to reconsider, which meant she lost her position and the financial bonus she had been expecting.
According to the South China Morning Post, she needed the money to care for the nine cats in her home.
Ironically, one of those very cats put her in this challenging situation, unknowingly making a life-changing decision on her behalf.
She later shared the unusual incident on social media, posting surveillance footage that captured the exact moment the cat pressed the key.
Reactions online were mixed; some expressed sympathy, while others joked about the situation.
One commenter even quipped that the cat had done the company a favor by saving them from paying a severance package.
Despite the unexpected setback, she plans to look for a new job after the upcoming Spring Festival, knowing that she still has nine cats depending on her.
